At about 2045h. last night, police say that Kumarie Tikaram, 28 years, of North Section, Canal No. 2, WBD, was walking along the Canal No. 2 Main Road when she was struck down from behind by a motor car.
She was taken to the WDRH where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the motor vehicle fled the scene, but was shortly after arrested by the police at his home.
He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
