dead on arrival at the Charity Hospital. Police also said that the suspect had not been arrested.

Beverly Danns told Stabroek News that she and her family received news of her son’s stabbing around 10:30pm on Mon-day, when her son-in-law went to her home and told her that Rafael had been stabbed.

“My son-in-law come and say that ‘Singh’ get stab and that we have to bring him up Charity and carry him to the hospital,” she said, while noting that she was with her husband and two daughters at home at the time.

She said her son-in-law brought Rafael in a boat to the landing. “My son-in-law didn’t know that he was dead already. When my daughter jump in the boat she lift up Singh jersey and she see sheer blood and that is when she tell me that he cold already but his heart was still warm,” the woman related.

Beverly said Rafael left home since Monday afternoon and he said he was going in the river. “He was drinking but he was not drunk. I don’t know why my son get stab. He was never a rowdy person or anything,” she said.

According to Beverly, he worked as a miner in Puruni and had planned to travel to go into the interior yesterday. “He was out a long time and that is why he had plan to go back but now he can’t go because he is dead,” the woman cried.

After the stabbing, several persons were taken to the Charity Police Station to give statements.

Stabroek News was told that Rafael and the suspect had a prior altercation but had sorted out their issues. It is unclear what led to the stabbing but Rafael’s family is hoping that police conduct a thorough investigation.
