Miner dies following attack on Issano camp

At about 2100h. on Thursday, police say that Joseph Nurse, of Belmonte, Mahaica, ECD, was in his camp at 14 Miles, Issano, with two of his workers when they were attacked and beaten by two men armed with a piece of wood and a gun. The attackers demanded gold and money and subsequently tied up the men and left the camp.
Danesh Rampersaud, 18 years, of Tuschen, EBE, managed to free himself and untied the others. They were taken to Troy Resources Medical Centre where they received medical treatment. The police said that on 2014-09-19, Nurse was air dashed to Georgetown, where he was admitted a patient in the GPHC. He died at 0400h. on September 22, 2014.
Investigations are in progress.
In an earlier version of this story, police had incorrectly stated that Rampersaud had died.
