No bail for man accused of wounding mother with bottle

Mohan Munilall, who had been previously jailed for assaulting his mother, yesterday found himself once more before a city court facing a charge that he wounded her during an assault with a bottle.

Munilall denied that on September 18, at Water Street, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Surujdai, his mother.

According to the police, the two had a disagreement over money and Munilall picked up a glass bottle and hit the woman. He was subsequently arrested and charged.

When asked about any previous convictions, Munilall admitted that he had been convicted in March 2000 for assaulting his mother.

The man, who works with his mother at her Robb Street business, was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry until October 21, when the case will be heard at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court Ten.

Meanwhile, his mother was advised to find out about a protection order.
