Headless corpse found at Cummings Lodge

A headless, badly-decomposed corpse believed to be that of a male was found in a drain at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara by men weeding grass yesterday afternoon.

According to reports, at approximately 4 pm, the men came across the body while cleaning a cemetery in the area. A resident told Stabroek News that the men first thought that it was the remains of a dog. However, the woman said “the foot was too long” so the men then decided to call the police.

Investigators after cordon off the scene, searched the area and according to residents they removed a bag with what was believed to be the head of the body. Moreover, investigators were also seen warding off dogs.

About twenty persons from the area assembled at the street called ‘Atlantic Ville short cut’ to find out what had happened.

When the undertakers arrived, investigators were seen searching the pants pocket of the corpse for any form of identification but that seemed fruitless. Shortly afterwards, the body was carefully removed at approximately 6 pm.
