Taxi driver remanded on drug possession charge

Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday remanded a taxi driver charged with having a large quantity of cannabis in his possession.

It was alleged that on September 25th, 2014, at Soesdyke, Phillip Lovell, of 67 East Ruimveldt had 2.727 kilogrammes of cannabis in his possession. Lovell pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

No further details about the charge were given to the court. Prosecutor Vishnu Hunt objected to bail on the grounds that no special reason was given to the court and bail was refused. Lovell is due to return to court on Monday.
