GT& T Mobile Money customers win $400,000 cash, prizes

Eleven customers of GT&T’s Mobile Money service won $400,000 in cash and prizes from promotions celebrating the launch of the company’s ‘Shop N Go’ service.

Romel Marks won the first prize of a laptop computer and Celina Alexander won the second prize of a trip for two to the Baganara Resort, at the drawing, held at company’s Croal Street office yesterday. Lloyd Mckenzie, Samuel Klien, Tyron Camacho and Mary Sunich Warton each won a $25,000 shopping voucher, which they chose to use at Mattai’s Supermarket, Bonny’s Supermarket and the Ashmins store. In addition, Michael Murray, Elizabeth Sunich, Shawndel Williams, Shelly Thomas and Alque Stanley won the MMG Hampers.

When some of the winning customers were asked about the mobile money service, they said the service is fast and easy and commended the Guyana and Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T). Customers also expressed relief in not having to carry too much cash, while others welcomed the convenience of the system.

MMG Marketing Officer Kester Abrams said the promotion was geared to promote mobile money shopping and discussed the advantages the service offers. He said GT&T will continue to improve on its services and eagerly looks forward to feedback, so they can make improvements.

In a press release GT&T said to qualify for the promotion registered mobile money customers had to shop at any Mobile Money Guyana (MMG) Merchants using $1000 or more during the promotional period which ran from August 9 to September 13.
