Jury empanelled for trial of man accused of murdering wife

A jury was empanelled yesterday for the trial of Delon Gordon, who is accused of killing his partner Natasha Johnson in 2011.

It is alleged that Gordon set his home on fire with him, his wife, and their children in it on July 4, 2011, at Better Hope Squatting Area.

A few days later, on July 11, 2011, Johnson, a mother of three, succumbed to her injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital and Gordon was charged with murder.

The trial, which is set to begin today, will be presided over by Justice Navindra Singh in the High Court. Senior State Counsel Judith Gildharie-Mursalin will present the state’s case while defence attorney Raymond Alli will be representing Gordon.
