Parfaite tinker denies fleecing woman in house-lot fraud

A Parfaite Harmonie man is being accused of cheating a woman of $350,000 by pretending he could get her a house lot.

However, Chaite Lall, 28, a tinker, denied the charge when he appeared yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that on March 14, at Eccles, with intent to defraud, Lall obtained the sum of $350,000 cash from Nutan Madray by pretending that he was in the position to obtain a house lot for her.

No further details about the transaction were presented to the court.

Lall’s attorney asked the court for reasonable bail, which was set at $100,000.

The magistrate ordered that statements be filed and the matter was transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for November 17.
