Nappi man stabbed to death, drinking buddy held

A man was found stabbed to death in his home at Nappi Village, Central Rupununi following a drinking spree.

His drinking buddy has since been detained by investigators.

Police have identified the dead man as 35-year-old Wilson James. According to Crime Chief Leslie James, the man was found with two stab wounds to the body.

A police statement on the discovery said that ranks are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of James, who was found at his home around 10:00 hours on Thursday with stab wounds to his body. The release said that he was subsequently pronounced dead on arrival at the Lethem Hospital.

“Investigations so far indicate that Wilson James and another man were imbibing at his home and he was later found with the suspected wounds to his body. The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations,” the statement added.

Stabroek News was unable to make contact with any of the dead man’s relatives.
