Suspect charged over Nappi murder

Martin Salvadore, accused of stabbing his drinking buddy, was yesterday refused bail and remanded to prison after being charged with the man’s murder.

It is alleged that Salvadore murdered Wilson James on October 16th, at Nappi Village, Central Rupununi.

He was not required to plead when the charge was read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Police had said that James, 35, was found stabbed to death in his home at Nappi Village following a drinking spree.

According to Crime Chief Leslie James, the man was found with two stab wounds to the body.

“Investigations so far indicate that Wilson James and another man were imbibing at his home and he was later found with the suspected wounds to his body.

The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations,” a police statement on the discovery said.

Salvadore is due to return to the Lethem Magistrate’s Court for December 1, when the case will be called next.
