The report `PPP had requested extradition of Gregory Smith – Ramson tells Rodney CoI’ in the November 4th edition of Stabroek News, inaccurately quoted former Attorney General Charles Ramson as referring to policemen deployed at a WPA political meeting as monkeys.
The recording on which Stabroek News relied had sounded as if the word ‘monkey’ was uttered. Mr Ramson subsequently objected to the Rodney Commission of Inquiry over the SN report. SN yesterday listened to a clearer recording of the testimony on that day and accepts that Mr Ramson had used the word `hunky’ and not ‘monkey.’
Stabroek News regrets the error and apologizes to Mr Ramson for any inconvenience caused.
