Approval given for new UK High Commissioner

Government yesterday announc-ed that it has given the relevant approval for a new British High Commissioner to Guyana who would assume duty next February.

“Cabinet granted its agréement to the appointment of new High Commissioner from the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland … his Excellency James Gregory Quinn would now assume the post as High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Guyana,” Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon announced yesterday.

Stabroek News was told that Quinn will arrive in Guyana next February at the completion of tenure of present High Commis-sioner Andrew Ayre.

High Commissioner Ayre has been serving since September of 2011.
