Sattaur withdraws threatening language charge against KN publisher

The threatening language charge against Kaieteur News Publisher Glen Lall brought by Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority Khurshid Sattaur was withdrawn today by the complainant.

Sattaur had accused Lall of using threatening language against him on August 29, 2014 at Plantain Walk, Beterverwagting.

The case which was supposed to be called at 9 am at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court was delayed because the jacket had “faltered on its way to the court,” Magistrate Alex Moore said.

Nevertheless the charge was read and Lall pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Moore then told Lall that fortune had smiled on him and Sattaur has withdrawn his charge and will not be giving any future evidence against him.

When Lall left the court, he said it was a total waste of tax payers’ money and people’s time. He said he hopes the pending matter he has against Attorney-General Anil Nandlall will be addressed with the same urgency.

His lawyer Khemraj Ramjattan said “they are trying to drive fear into Lall,” but they have not learned that he is not intimidated by fear.
