Run over bandit succumbs

Soldier Kevin David, who was one of the two bandits that were run over at La Bonne Intention (LBI) after a robbery last week, died yesterday in the Georgetown Public Hospital.

David, of Agricola, was the gunman in the attack who relieved LBI resident Jasdai Persaud of $750,000 last Tuesday. His accomplice, Trelon Munroe, succumbed to injuries he sustained after being hit during their failed escape bid.

Public Relations Officer of the hospital Mitzy Campbell confirmed his death late last night, only saying that David died early last night in the Male Surgical Ward.

According to a source, David’s sisters were screaming and wailing on the streets of Agricola last night.

Persaud had left her Cherry Field, LBI home and had gone to Republic Bank, on Water Street, in Georgetown to withdraw money to buy materials in order to continue works on her house. When she returned home, David and Munroe rode up in front of her house, barged into her yard and robbed her.

The two men were chased by Persaud’s brother-in-law, who run them over with his car. Residents had rushed out of their homes and attacked them, beating David until the police arrived on the scene.

Munroe was later pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital, while David was treated and admitted.

After the robbery, Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Brigadier Mark Phillips confirmed that David was a coast guard rank who went AWOL (absent without leave) several months ago.
