Theft of nets lands man in jail

A man will be spending the next two months in prison after he admitted to stealing his employer’s fishing nets.

After some hesitation yesterday, Doodnarine Singh, 55, who had no fixed address, confessed that he stole fishing nets belonging to Shivdat Omesh Ragoo.

“Are you guilty or not guilty?” city magistrate Annette Singh repeatedly asked Singh, who appeared to be dazed and confused throughout the proceedings.

After being sentenced, Singh was observed leaving the courtroom apparently clueless as to what had just transpired.
