Mason charged over cell phone theft

Steve Warren was yesterday released on $75,000 bail when he appeared in a city court charged with stealing a Samsung Galaxy cellphone valued $65,000.

Warren, 24, of 9 Princes Street, Lodge pleaded not guilty to the charge read by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

It was alleged that on December 21, in Georgetown, he allegedly stole the cellphone from Stacy Paris.

Attorney Mark Conway, who represented Warren, pleaded with the court to grant bail for his client while noting that he had no previous convictions.

Conway said Warren was a mason and the father of a four-year-old child.

There was no objection to bail by Prosecutor Michael Grant which was granted in $75,000.

His matter was transferred to Court 11, and was adjourned for January 25, for the filing of statements.
