When will the dead finally rest in peace?

Dear Editor,

It is already very painful that the remains of family, relatives and friends entombed for several years cannot be visited because their last resting places are covered with bush, but now we are confronted with another situation.

It seems that the ability to even bury the dead in peace is being disrupted by the floods (including garbage) and the remains of the deceased are being returned to the funeral parlour to await an appropriate burial time. This last part of the funeral rite to say goodbye is being denied.

Christians and Muslims do not generally select cremation, so the proposed building of a crematorium in Le Repentir Cemetery will not resolve the myriad problems there.

When will our dead really rest in peace?

Yours faithfully,
