Henry Rahaman could be classified as a role model

Dear Editor,

I am extremely sorry to learn of the death of Mr Henry Rahaman, former teacher, headmaster of West Demerara Secondary School and lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of Guyana. He was someone I saw as a friend and whom I held in the highest regard. In the course of my attachment to NCERD from 1996 to 2011, I had the opportunity to converse with him from time to time when he gave me a lift in his vehicle to West Demerara.

I first met Mr Rahaman at the University of Guyana when we pursued the same course as teachers. It was there I learnt of the quality of this man and his principled outlook on life. He was worthy to be classified as a role model as far as my knowledge goes. He influenced my life positively.

I was not aware of his death until after his interment, hence my interactions with the bereaved were restricted.  Nevertheless, I wish to convey to his wife and all those related to him my regret at the departure of this wonderful person. I will not forget him and the impression he left on my life.

Yours faithfully,
Krishna Nand Prasad
