Dear Editor,
I do not care who dislikes me as a result of this correspondence, or the forthcoming negative responses. I am mad, and I grieve at the death of 15-year-old Leon McCurdy, the “scissors” bandit. I have no intention of going into the details of the robbery. I want everyone to reread the newspapers that carried the report of the incident, and the manner of 15-year-old Leon McCurdy’s demise.
When confronted by the businessman and told that his accomplices had fled, 15-year-old Leon McCurdy attempted to flee; however, the courageous businessman, armed himself, and shot the 15-year-old bandit, seven times.
Leon was fleeing, he was not attacking the businessman; his family was no longer in danger. Leon’s accomplices had already fled with their booty. Could not the businessman aided by his son have overpowered the unarmed 15-year-old Leon, without the use of such excessive and deadly force?
I bid each and every one a welcome to our society, a most callous one, where life is cheap.
