Timber trucks with no lights should not be allowed on Linden Highway at night

Dear Editor,

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the relatives and friends of the late Jasmine Norton who was employed as a supervisor at Kuru Kuru Co-operative College on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway.

Ms Norton was killed almost instantly when my brother-in-law’s car in which she was a passenger crashed into a parked truck, laden with timber and with no tail lights on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway on Sunday, February 16, 2014 (SN, February 19). My brother-in-law, Floyd Archer escaped miraculously with only minor injuries.  The car was completely destroyed in this horrific accident.

The relevant authorities must do something urgently to prevent these trucks laden with timber and with no lights from travelling on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway at night; they have been responsible for numerous horrific accidents and loss of life over the years.

May the immortal soul of Jasmine rest in peace.

Yours faithfully,

Brother Mark Nigel James
