Action needs to be taken on garbage, foul language in public and noise nuisance

Dear Editor,

While it would be laudable for steps to be taken by the environmental authorities, City Hall and others to keep the city and other areas of Guyana clean, there are also some other filthy and distasteful problems that exist.

What I’m referring to is the filth that comes out of people’s mouths publicly on the streets on a daily basis – men, women and boys included. I haven’t observed too many schoolgirls swearing.

Swearing can be heard in and around Bourda and Stabroek Markets, in minibuses and minibus  car parks.

Then there is the noise nuisance created by some private car drivers, and this also applies to some minibuses.

All three of the above-mentioned need to be addressed urgently, with positive action being taken to eradicate the unpleasant behaviour.  Action should be taken to deal with the garbage pile-up, the use of foul language in public and the noise nuisance from minibuses as well as private cars and music carts.

Yours faithfully,
D Isaacs
