When will Ramotar follow Persad-Bissessar’s example?

Dear Editor,

We read again that the no nonsense Trinidad Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Monday afternoon (March 31) disclosed that she had taken the decision to fire her Tourism Minister Chandresh Sharma.

This comes after the Minister was accused of assaulting his former girlfriend, Sacha Singh.

Only five days ago, the Prime Minister had cause to fire Dr Glenn Ramadharsingh, who was the Minister of the People and Social Development for his unruly behaviour on board a Caribbean Airlines flight. He was accused of touching the breast of a flight attendant.

We ask again, when would President Donald Ramotar of the Republic of Guyana take condign action against Dr Ashni Singh Minister of Finance for his recent misdemeanour when it was reported in the press here that he hit another car with his vehicle. It was also alleged that he was under the influence of alcohol and left the scene of an accident.

Editor, are the laws in this country for all except the privileged few of Pradoville? We think that citizens of this country should commence a visible campaign to get the current Minister of Finance to face the law in court and also to get President Ramotar to take a leaf from the book of the much admired Trinidad Prime Minister.

Yours faithfully,
