Young people have no chance in ‘old boys’ political parties

Dear Editor,

The whole Vanessa Kissoon suspension episode reinforces the view that young people hardly stand a chance in leadership positions in the established ‘old boys club’ political parties. While I don’t have all the facts surrounding Ms Kissoon’s suspension, I’m not surprised that she was suspended pending the outcome of the investigation while the other party to the dispute has not been sanctioned.

Editor this is symptomatic of the way young people are perceived and treated in all the current political parties. They are seen more as window dressing than actual substantive contributors to their party’s leadership and success.

I sincerely hope that this matter is resolved swiftly and justice prevails.

 Yours faithfully,

Clinton Urling
