Commander Tyndall responded quickly

Dear Editor,

On Thursday, October 9, at approximately 12 pm, I called Commander Tyndall’s office to report constant threatening behaviour towards my family by a man. This kind of belligerence and terrorization directed towards my family by this man is nothing uncommon; we have been forced to endure constant attacks which have been reported to the police at Anna Regina without any investigation being done.

What is noteworthy is that Commander Tyndall and several ranks, including Sergeant Isaac immediately arrived on the scene after I telephoned him about another attack by the man. I had never had the honour and privilege before to talk with Commander Tyndall before he came to Region Two. I was deeply touched by the sincere way in which he expressed himself towards me about the need for effectiveness in the GPF. He stressed that for members of the public to trust the police force the desk attitude of the officers must change.

This kind of attitude displayed by the Commander will certainly boost the morale of the police force which has remained low. He will restore public confidence in the force and secure cooperation from members of the public. Poor training also has severely limited the effectiveness of the GPF. Commander Tyndall appealed to all ranks to pull their weight in ensuring a quick response whenever they received a complaint at the desk.

Editor, what I appreciate about this new Commander is that he quickly mobilized his ranks in the station and brought them with him to my place. Other commanders should take their example from him, and I urge all policemen to uphold the oaths they took to serve and protect the citizens and maintain the respected tradition of the GPF. They have committed themselves to the people in choosing this profession.

I wish to thank Commander Tyndall and his ranks for their quick action; the GPF still has some hard working and decent policemen.

Yours faithfully,
Mohamed Khan
