The constitution should have been modified

Dear Editor,

I should like to congratulate the moderator of the programme (Spotlight) Electoral Choices & Good Governance Pt 4. Cde Grantley Walrond and his guest imparted knowledge to the Guyanese people on the Constitution of the Cooperative Republic on November 6 on Channel 9 television station.

Such a programme should be repeated over and over again, especially for the benefit of the private sector, the religions organisations and the Federation of Independent Trade Unions, Fitug, because it seems to me that they in particular have turned a blind eye to the violation of consultative democracy enshrined in the constitution.

Cde Editor, every word that came out of the mouths of these gentlemen, Cde Haslyn Paris, Cde Vincent Alexander and Cde Dr Henry Jeffrey was the gospel truth.

Cde Editor, the failure on the part of this present opposition to take a serious look at the constitution and have it modified has caused great suffering to the majority of us in this nation, so they are at fault and have no one to blame but themselves for the non-consultation situation that has come upon us, the Guyanese

people.

Yours faithfully,

David Noel
