It is alarming that certain newspapers based on their interpretation of the Ombudsman’s Report are alleging that the New Building Society is implicated and blameworthy over the dismissal of Mr Arjoon and other former employees.
The Ombudsman in response has categorically stated that he did not investigate NBS and its Board or any of its Directors. Any further insinuation by any of the media houses or organizations that the NBS has been found wanting by the Ombudsman over the dismissal of its former employees will no doubt be met with a firm direct response, including seeking legal redress.
There is a current matter in the court involving the dismissal of one of those employees and the NBS and we can only hope that newspapers and organizations observe the sub judice rule. It is basically unprincipled for anyone to comment on such matters or to interfere with an independent and impartial hearing of such a matter.
We reiterate that the Ombudsman has publicly stated that NBS was not investigated by him and he did not pronounce on the dismissal of these former employees.
