Windies Under 19s beat CCC by seven wickets on DL

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC- West Indies Under-19s defeated Combined Campuses & Colleges by seven wickets on the Duckworth-Lewis method in a one-day warm-up match at 3Ws Oval on Sunday.

A 50-over a side match to prepare both teams for major tournaments was reduced to 25 overs each and started just after mid-day because of early morning rain which swept across the island.

Kyle Corbin topscored with 47 off 42 balls as CCC were bowled out for 117 in 22.4 overs after losing the toss.

Corbin, the former CCC captain, hit four sixes and one four and teamed up with Raymon Reifer in a fourth wicket partnership of 62.

Reifer made 22 off 36 balls with one six.

However once they were parted, a collapse set in with the last seven wickets crashing for 30 runs.

Skipper and off-spinner Ramaal Lewis took three for 11 off 3.4 overs including the scalp of Corbin.

Vincentian fast bowler Ray Jordan who picked up the first three wickets to help reduce CCC to 25 for three, finished with three for 23 off five overs.

Rain interrupted the West Indies Under-19s innings after 11 overs with the score 42 for two.

Set a revised target of 86 off 20 overs, they won with nine balls remaining with all batsmen who went to crease reaching double-figures.

Barbadian Jonathan Drakes topscored with 19 not out, Brian King of Jamaica was unbeaten on 18; Trinidad & Tobago’s Jeremy Solozano got 18, Shimron Hetmeyer of Guyana (14) and vice-captain Nicholas Pooran, who comes from Trinidad & Tobago (13).

CCC are leaving for Trinidad & Tobago  tomorrow for the WICB NAGICO Super50tournament, which begins on Thursday.

West Indies Under-19s are having a one-week camp which started last Tuesday at 3Ws Oval before heading to Dubai.
