DCB looking to bowl off inter association competitions, weather permitting

The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) is currently preparing to bowl off their respective U-15, U-17 and U-19 Inter-Association competitions for their youth cricket season in March, weather permitting.

According to a press release from the DCB, the board will be releasing its fixtures depending on the state of the weather starting with the U15 competition. The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) recently launched its Scotiabank Kiddies cricket  programme while the Digicel Grassroots programme is expected to bowl off soon. The (DCB) is encouraging all the area associations in Demerara to start preparing their teams in the various age groups for competitions starting next month.

Records have shown that Demerara has dominated all levels of cricket competitions over the past few years and it is the board’s optimism that the county continues to be proactive and commence preparations very early so that talented players can be identified this year for these competitions.

The DCB is asking all associations to work with the schools in their respective areas to identify promising youths in these respective age groups to nurture and bring forward.

The board also wishes to advise all associations that the U15 tournament will be only for players born on or after September 1, 1999 and this competition will be a two-day format competition.

The U-17 competition will be for players born on or after September 1, 1997 and the U-19 competition for payers born on or after September 1, 1995

The DCB said it is optimistic that with all the associations actively participating, the competitions will be successful and the Demerara teams would be able to maintain their supremacy this year and beyond.
