Chattergoon looking forward to regional four day competition

Former West Indies opening batsman Sewnarine Chattergoon said that after not making the final cut for the ongoing NAGICO Regional Super50 tournament his sights are now firmly locked on the upcoming four-day format which is scheduled to bowl off on February 28.

The left-hander spoke with Stabroek Sports yesterday on the eve of a planned encampment for those players seeking to make the final cut.

Today’s camp will be conducted by former West Indies fast bowler Reon King, Guyana and Berbice Cricket Board Senior coach Julian Moore and National coach Quasen Nedd.

Chattergoon, who did not make the final 14 member squad for the 50-over format, said that he was not disappointed and that the  selectors did their job and came up with the best possible team for the Super50 tournament.

According to Chattergoon, his objectives from today will primarily surround making an impact in the four-day format.

The players in training for the regional four day competition will recommence training at the La Bonne Intention (LBI) Indoor Cricket Facility and Chattergoon is optimistic that the use of this venue will further enhance their form and improve on their technical areas.

He added that he will be looking forward to working along with the team of trainers and the pair of army officers who played an integral in all parts of the players’ excelling physically over the past month.
