St Gabriel’s F. E Pollard clash in East Georgetown zone final

St. Gabriel’s Primary will battle F.E Pollard today for the East Georgetown Zone (EGZ) title after winning their semifinals matches yesterday at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground in the latest action of the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Festival.

In the first semifinals F.E Pollard batted first, scored 157-4 from their 10 overs, to defeat Redeemer Primary school by seven runs after restricting them to 150-7 in their allotted overs.

Game two of the EGZ saw St. Gabriel’s defeating Bel Air primary school by seven runs. St. Gabriel’s scored 147 all out before returning to restrict their opponents to 140 for the loss of nine wickets.

In South Georgetown Zone (SGZ) Ketley, West Ruimveldt, and South Ruimveldt primary schools advanced following victories in yesterday’s matches.

In game one Ketley won by 25 runs against Tucville Primary. Batting first Ketley made 147-6 at the end of their 10 overs, with Yohance De Florimonte top scoring with 10.

Bowling for Tucville, Nikendi Williams was the chief wicket taker with 3-10. Tucville in reply could only manage 122-6 at the end of their innings.

Game two saw West Ruimveldt, 153-7 in 10 overs, with 28 runs coming in extras, defeating Thomas More Primary who made 106 all out with 26 extras by 47 runs.

 

The final game of SGZ saw Smith’s Memorial Primary going down to South Ruimveldt by 42 runs. South Ruimveldt batted first scored 140-7 at the end of their overs, with Troyston Louisy and Lashanda Hoppie the top scorers with 14 and 11 respectively. Kemyon John took 2-8 for Smith’s Memorial who in their turn at the crease were bowled out for 98 runs.

The finals for both zones will be played today  at the same venue from 10a.m., while matches in the Lower East Coast Zone will be played at the Better Hope Ground from 1pm.
