Flying Ace/Benjamin Sports Store to stage lucrative road race Monday

Cyclists get ready, the most lucrative event for the season thus far will pedal off on Monday when the Flying Ace Cycle Club along with Benjamin Sports Store stages a 40-mile road race in Berbice.

The event which pedals off at 09:30hrs is expected to attract the cream of the nation’s wheelsmen since $80,000 and the winner’s trophy will be up for grabs.

According to coach of the club and organiser of the race, Randolph Roberts, the event is being held to celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of Sancho Benjamin and the top six senior finishers, three juniors and veterans under 50 years will each pocket cash prizes and trophies.

Eight sprint prizes will also be on offer during the 40-mile trek which starts at Fyrish, proceeds to No.43 Village and returns to the point of origin for the finish.

National riders, Alanzo Greaves, Raynauth Jeffrey, Geron Williams, Orville Hinds, Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams, Robin Persaud and Paul DeNobrega as well as Berbician standout rider, Neil Reece are scheduled to be on their saddles.
