League leaders Alpha United seeking to cement position

Alpha United Football Club, present leaders of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Premier League competition will seek to cement their position when they take on Young Achievers who are in the cellar position this afternoosn at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground.

Alpha United, on 33 points will be expected to run over Young Achievers who are on three points in the second game of the double header which begins at 6pm.

In the opening encounter at 4pm, the two East Bank-based teams Riddim Squad and Grove Hi Tech will battle for supremacy and bragging rights.

The Mocha-based Riddim Squad, plays in the Georgetown Football Association tournaments while Grove Hi Tech plays in the East Bank Football Association zone.

Riddim Squad, on 11 points, is in 12th position and will be looking for an upset win against Grove Hi Tech who are in sixth place with 18 points and who have won all three of their games since the league resumed, beating Rosignol United, Buxton United and Milerock in the process.

The final match will see second place Western Tigers, on 25 points, coming up against fifth placed Den Amstel who are on 19 points.

Meanwhile at the Buxton Ground from 1.30pm the Guyana Defence Force who are on 22 points, will play 15th place BV/Triumph, who are on nine points.

Later at 3.30pm at the same venue, Buxton United will come up against East Coast’s Mahaica Determinators.

A win will see the third placed Buxton, on 23 points, occupy the second spot while Mahaica Determinators, on 11 points, will be looking to win and move from the 13th position they presently occupy.
