Guyana in danger of outright defeat

Guyana’s cricketers were facing the prospect of an outright defeat at the end of the third day’s play of their four-day regional West Indies Cricket Board match at Sabina Park yesterday.

The Guyanese were 219 -8 wickets at stumps an overall lead of just 42 with two wickets intact after Jamaica had replied to the Guyanese first innings score of 117 by making  294 all out.

In  the Guyana second innings left hander Vishal `Cheesy’ Singh topscored with 73 while Narsingh Deonarine made 38 and Assad Fudadin 33.

Former West Indies fast bowler Jerome Taylor picked up five wickets.

And the leeward Islands were 135-5 at stumps in their match against the Combined Campuses and Colleges team who made 202 in reply to the Leewards first innings score of 154.

The Leewards lead by 97 runs going into today’s third day.
