Slingerz FC edges Den Amstel Porknockers to win Mashramani Cup

Slingerz FC retained the Stag Beer West Side Mashramani Cup, edging arch rivals Den Amstel Porknockers 1-0 in the grand finale on Sunday at the Uitvlugt Community Development Centre ground.

Anthony `Awo’ Abrams separated the two sides with a first half strike in the 18th minute, clinching the $500,000 first price and trophy for the Vergenoegen giants. Den Amstel, for their efforts, had to settle for the second place package of $250,000 and trophy.

In the third place fixture, Seawall FC edged home side Uitvlugt Warriors  5-3 on penalty kicks after regulation and extra time finished 1-1. The home side would take the early lead in the sixth minute of play.

However, Kit Austin would equalize for the eventual winners in the 63rd minute, forcing the fixture into extra time and eventually penalty kicks of which they would emerge victorious through a clinical display from the spot.

With the win, Seawall walked away with $150,000 and respective trophy while Uitvlugt received $100,000 and the corresponding accolade.
