Fist fight mars BK Western Tigers win

A hard-fought BK Western Tigers 2-0 win over Milerock FC Friday night  was overshadowed by a fight between Western Tigers’ Ryan Asolph and Milerock’s Mark Moses when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Premier League continued at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda on Friday.

Following the conclusion of the matchup, Adolph and Moses engaged in a fight which forced their respective camps to restrain the combatants in their attempts to pacify the situation.

Visibly upset and sporting a laceration over his right eye that bled profusely, Adolph, who armed himself with a piece of wood, had to be forcibly restrained by several teammates and supporters as he constantly tried to make his way towards the Linden player.

The scuffle which lasted in the region of two minutes was eventually ended and both sides made their way to their respective corners amid cautions from referees, officials and supporters alike.

Preceding the encounter, the Georgetown unit had broken the deadlock in the 18th minute through a Rensford Coleridge header. Standing within the right side of the penalty box, Coleridge would out jump his marker and the opposing custodian, directing his well-placed header down the middle of an empty net after receiving a cross from the left side.

Hubert Pedro almost doubled the West Ruimveldt unit’s lead 12 minutes later, but his acrobatic overhead bicycle kick from inside the centre of the 18-yard area following a left sided cross, was directed straight at the Milerock custodian.

The opening fixture of the evening between Grove Hi-Tech and Mahaica Determinators was rescheduled.
