Austin, trainer confident of victory over Jamaica’s Moncrieffe

Mark ‘The People’s Choice’ Austin is training with the dedication of an underdog but the heart of a champion for Saturday’s light middleweight bout against Jamaican, Devon Moncrieffe 9(4)-2(1)-0.

Austin 9(1)-6(2)-1, is currently preparing under the sage guidance of legendary trainer, George ‘Canchie’ Oprecht who stressed that:

“Mark has good box skills, exceptional boxing skills and ability.

The other guy is a good fighter but I look at him as just another fighter in Mark’s way.

“Mark is quite confident and I have been training him for about three months to win, I anticipate it will be a hell of a fight.”

Saturday’s card dubbed ‘Jamaican Invasion’ will take place at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

`The People’s Choice’ is relishing the opportunity of fighting in front of his fans.

“There’s nothing that is going to stop me from giving me and my fans a victory, I’m going out there to win, it’s do or die.

I’m a very skillful and entertaining fighter and I depend on this sport for a living, so Guyana come out this Saturday and see the People’s Choice in action”.

The card is scheduled to be headlined by WBC CABOFE flyweight champion, Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques and Jamaica’s Rudolph ‘Cutting Edge’ Hedge for Marques’ title.

The undercard will feature local pugilists, Quincy Gomes (lightweight) and Romeo Norville (super middleweight) opposing two of Moncrieffe’s and Hedge’s countrymen.

Prior to those international fights, Williamson will lace it up against David Thomas in a four-round super lightweight contest.
