Rasheed (12-71) guides ECC to victory over MYO

Javed Rasheed’s 12-wicket match haul guided Everest Cricket Club (ECC) to a comprehensive victory over Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) as the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) competition continued last weekend at the MYO ground.

In the Noble House Seafoods second division two-day competition, former national youth player Rasheed inspired Everest to a 187 runs victory over MYO.

The left arm orthodox bowler, Rasheed, took 7-47 in the first innings restricting MYO to 153 all out, and 5-24 in the second innings as MYO crumbled to 86 all out. Z. Khan top scored for MYO in the first innings with 53.

Everest who won the toss and opted to bat scored 238-9 declared in its first innings, with Mohan Ramdeen the principal scorer with his 98. Bowling for MYO, S. Ishmael took 5-79 to finish as the chief wicket taker for his side.  In their second turn at the crease, the Everest team reached 188-7 before declaring for the second time. Skipper Khemraj Ramdeen (58) and Raphael Singh (50) were the main scorers in Everest second innings. Mohamed Ayube bowled well to finish with 3-28 from seven overs for MYO.

In the Hadi’s World Incorporated first division two-day competition:

Police and GNIC grabbed first innings points in their respective games against Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO).

At Eve Leary, DCC scored 221 all out after taking first strike. Dexter George batting in the lower order scored 50 while Denver Greaves supported  with 43. Antonell Atwell and Timothy Mc Almont were  also among the runs with 41 each. Jermaine Reynolds claimed 4-51 and Troy Benn 2-35 for Police, who replied with 386-9 declared. Ricardo Adams slammed 134 not out, Norwayne Federicks stroked 71, Seon Daniels 60 and Reginald Rodrigues 58.

For DCC, leg spinner Atwell bagged 5-99 and Ashmead Nedd 3-80. With a deficit of 165,
