BCC, Police win in Elizabethan Styles U19 competition

The 2014 Elizabeth Styles Under-19 limited overs cricket competition currently ongoing in Berbice continued recently with wins for Blairmont Community Centre and Police.

At Blairmont, Berbice U19 batsman Nick Ramsaroop blasted nine fours and five sixes in his 128 while Avishkar Sewkarran (91) and Guyana U17 all-rounder Parmanand Ramdhan (67), spearhead their team Blairmont Community Centre to a daunting 351 for 8 off 45 overs against D’Edward.

Ramsaroop and Sewkarran had piled on 227 runs for the first wicket.

In reply, the D’Edward batsmen were scythed through by Berbice U15 pacer Rameshwari Somwaru who took five wickets for six runs from six overs and Sewkarran who rounded off a fine all-round performance grabbing 5 for 12 from seven overs, routing their opponents for a paltry 24.

In the second match at Crabwood Creek, the home team suffered a 6-wicket loss at the hands of No.70 Young Star. Crabwood Creek Risings opening batsman Naresh Deo top scored with a century (105) to help his team post 185 in 30.2 overs. Off-spinner Tameshwar Kumar who snared 6 for 36 returned with the bat to hammer 71 taking his team home.

At Edinburgh, Police beat Edinburgh by 129 runs.

Police 268 in 43.2 overs Clifton Lindee 97, Kwesi Mickle 60. Vijay Mangra 2 for 11, Clifford Welcome 2 for 30, Wally Latif 2 for 37, Joseph Giddings 2 for 52. Edinburgh 139 in 35.4 overs Joseph Giddings 70. Leon Andrews 5 for 21 Kwesi Mickle 2 for 17, Steffon Anderson 2 for 33.
