Narine’s KKK ends four-game losing streak

DELHI, India, CMC-Sunil Narine’s Kolkata Knight Riders ended a four-game losing streak while his West Indian counterpart Dwayne Smith’s Chennai Super Kings crumbled at the hands of Kings X1 Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL) yesterday.

KKK beat a hapless Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets at the Feroz Shah Kotla while Kings XI Punjab posted a comprehensive 44-run victory over  Super Kings at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

Glenn Maxwell continued with his incredible batting form this IPL blasting a 38-ball 90 in an exhibition of strokeplay to take Kings XI Punjab to victory.

Maxwell, the highest run scorer this season with 435 from seven matches, butchered the Chennai bowlers to submission as Punjab scored 231 for 4 — the highest total of IPL-7.

Chasing a mammoth target of 232, Chennai, which boasted of one of the best batting line-ups this season, could only score 187 for six to slump to their second defeat.

Chennai suffered a jolt in the first over with in-form opener  Smith getting out for just four.

Smith also picked up a wicket for 38 runs.

In the other game, Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa’s century stand helped Kolkata end their four-game losing streak.

Narine did not have the same impact as his previous performances going for 38 runs in his four overs and picking up one wicket.
