Albouystown A win on penalty kicks

Albouystown-A overcame Back Circle 4-3 on sudden death kicks following a nil-all score line at the end of normal time when the round of 16 stage in the Mackeson ‘Keep Your Five Alive’ commenced at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall Tarmac on Saturday.

Shaka Jones fired the first warning shot for Albouystown but his right footed effort from the right side of the park, was denied by the outstretched leg of the final Back Circle defender in the third minute.

Back Circle almost took the lead in the 10th minute through a Daniel Favourite right footed attempt that fizzed just wide of sneaking into the left hand corner, from the right side of the field.

A great one-on-one opportunity for Albouystown to break the deadlock would go-a begging in the 17th minute as Andrew Murray Jr. would be denied by a crunching tackle from the final defender in the centre of the field, following a counterattack. With normal time unable to settled the outcome, penalty kicks was then required. However, the first round of penalty kicks would finish 2-2 as both sides missed their respective first attempts from the spot.

It would quickly become 3-3 as the first round of sudden death kicks was able to break the gridlock. Albouystown would then take a 4-3 lead in as they converted their second sudden death attempt.
