Digicel schools football…Institute of Business downs Buxton Youth Development

Institute of Business Education (IBE) defeated Buxton Youth Development by a 3-0 score line when the Region Four conference of the 4th Annual Digicel Secondary Schools Football tourney continued yesterday at the Beterverwagting ground.

Jason Cromwell broke the early deadlock for the winners, compliments of a 26th minute attempt. Their lead would be doubled 13 minutes later as Deshawn Trotz found the back of the net.

The win would then be sealed as the lanky Cromwell found the back of the net, completing his double on either side of half time with a 56th minute conversion.

In the second match-up of the doubleheader, Annandale Secondary defeated Bygeval Secondary by a 4-3 margin on penalty kicks, following a 1-1 score line at the end of regulation time.

Ian Docker opened the scoring for Annandale Secondary with a 32nd minute strike. His effort was cancelled out as Shafeer Sanichar levelled the score line compliments of a 70th minute strike.

With penalty kicks required to settle the outcome, IBE would eventually emerge the winners as Docker, Jeremian Thorne, Kristoff Stool and Keon Gooding netted while Sven Anthony missed.

On the other side, Sanichar, Raphael Bovell and Orette Forde netted while Kelvin James and Stephen Petrie were the unfortunate individuals to miss their attempts from the mark.

In the Region six conference, a second half Jamaul Butts hat trick powered New Amsterdam Multilateral to a 3-2 win over Orealla Secondary.

Hosted at the Orealla Community Centre ground, Cameron Edwards opened the scoring for the home side as he found the back of the net in the 26th minute.

Butts would level the score line for the New Amsterdam unit compliments of a 50th minute penalty kick conversion. However Orealla Secondary would retake the lead two minutes later through a Wilton Rodrigues strike.

Nonetheless Butts would level the scores once more, completing his double with a 67th minute conversion. He would then seal his hat trick, grabbing the go-ahead winner through a 73rd minute attempt.
