Team Guyana’s struggles continued as they suffered crushing losses in the boys and girls u-13 and boys u -15, eventually winning two out of a possible eight semi-final matches when the 2014 Caribbean Squash Championships continued on Monday in Hamilton, Bermuda.
Akeila Wiltshire defeated Jamaican Mary Jo Mahfood 3-1 in the girls U-19 section. Taking the first set by a 12-10 margin, she increased her advantage when she won the second round 11-3.
Mahfood then cut the deficit to one, winning the third set 11-5. However, Wiltshire clinched her berth in the final when she won the fourth set 11-2. With the win, she will now face off against Charlotte Knaggs of Trinidad and Tobago who defeated Victoria Arjoon in straight sets.
Meanwhile, Arjoon lost the opening 11-5 and fell further behind, conceding the second round by an 11-2 score line. Knaggs then sealed the win by claiming the third set 11-2.
In the men’s category of the same division, Nyron Joseph was defeated by Jamaica’s Jake Mahfood 3-2. Taking a 1-0 lead after claiming the opening set 11-7,
