Badminton team off to C/bean championships

An 11-member badminton team under manager/coach Gokarn Ramdhani will be participating in this year’s Caribbean Regional Badminton Championships (CAREBACO) which gets underway today in Jamaica and ends on Saturday.

According to Ramdhani, president of the Guyana Badminton Association, the team will aim to continue the trend of winning medals at every international tournament they have participated in over the last seven years including the Caribbean Championships, the Pan American Championship, the Suriname International Open Championships and the South American Championships.

At last year’s Caribbean championships in Puerto Rico the Guyana team won two gold, two silver and four bronze medals.

Ramdhani said the players have been in intense training for the past few weeks are.

The Guyana team reads: Narayan Ramdhani (Sunburst Sponsored Player) (Under-17 & Open Events), Priyanna Ramdhani (Under 13 & 15 Events),

Jonathan Mangra (Under-17 Events), Ambika Ramraj (Under-17 Events),

Ronald Chang Yuen (Under-19 Events), Abosaide Cadogan (Under-13 Events)

Christopher Persaud (Open Events).
