The programme, which commenced yesterday at the National Gymnasium, aims to teach players and coaches alike the fundamentals of table tennis as it relates to the specific areas of coaching. Ortega Montes, an ITTF Latin American Development Officer also told Stabroek Sports that he will be carefully assessing the participants throughout the week, while various fitness and technical exercises will be carried out.

Apart from the level one certification course a level two programme will commence immediately after but Montes confirmed that persons who took part in the first novice will have to wait one year before they can be eligible for participation in the level two course.
