Fredericks heads Essequibo Volleyball Association

Joel Fredericks, Captain of Mainstay Village, is the new president of the Essequibo Volleyball Association which was resuscitated last week following a visit to Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast by John Flores president of the Guyana Volleyball Association.

The other executive positions are as follows:-Vice President- Rabbi Das, Treasurer -Rodney Williams and Secretary – Marsha Williams.

Five committee members round off the association.

According to a press release, the newly-elected President emphatically expressed his willingness to fast track the development of the sport in the county.

He also said that he will try his best to ensure the sport is elevated to a very high level in order to compete with Demerara and Berbice adding that he will work closely with sports coordinators in the regions and relevant organizations in that regard.

Flores was very elated with the new development since his aim is to

get all the associations established and functioning properly.

He charged the committee members to help spread the game and be actively involved in supporting the executives.

A one day tournament involving four male teams was also held with the eventual winner being the Mainstay Village team who demonstrated fitness, determination and a winning attitude which resulted in them eventually lifting the trophy for the top team.
