Walcott keeps going at Northlands with triple

EDMONTON, Canada, CMC – Rico Walcott’s continued to run away with the Northlands Park riding title with a triple on Wednesday’s mid-week card.

The Barbadian scored in race three with favourite Wildcat Energy, in race four with another favourite One More Wild Ride before also winning race six aboard odds-on Count the Change.

Walcott now has 104 wins for the season, almost twice those of second placed Scott Williams on 55.

He opened his account on the nine-race card over a mile and sixteenth, producing a stalking ride to get Wildcat Energy to the wire 5-1/4 lengths clear.

Three-to-one chance DM Runaway set the pace early on, hauling the field through fractions of 23.55 seconds and 47.50 seconds, with Illegal Whiskey and Spark of Valor challenging.

Walcott stalked with the five-year-old chestnut gelding before getting to the front heading into the stretch and drawing off nicely.
