Development Team eye come-from-behind victory over Essequibo

The Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) Development Team is looking to claim an outright victory over Essequibo. At the end of day two of their GCB senior Inter-County clash with Essequibo at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, set a target of 267 to claim a come-from-behind victory, the Development Team was 84 without loss when play ended.

The unbeaten batsmen are Shimron Hetmyer and Tagenarine Chanderpaul on 52 and 27 respectively.

The Development Team will commence tomorrow’s play still 184 runs away from victory with 10 wickets in hand.

Earlier in the day, the Development Team, resuming the day’s play at 60-1, lost their remaining nine wickets for 68 runs.

Overnight batsmen Shimron Hetmyer (42) and Chanderpaul Hemraj (27) added 21 runs to their team’s overnight score, before Hemraj was removed by Anthony Adams.

Anthony Adams mesmerised the batsmen from the Development Team as he went on to claim 7-34 from 21 overs to finish as his team’s best bowler. He received support from Hemchand Persaud, who finished with 3-25 as the Development Team were restricted to 128 all out in 51 overs.

Steven Jacobs was destructive in Essequibo’s second innings as they were bowled out for 163 in 37.2 overs. Jacobs claimed 6-36 receiving support from Kemo Paul, who snared 3-40.
