Cleveland Thomas, Alika Morgan and Euleen Josiah-Tanner, promises to be highly competitive.

Forde has taken top honors in the senior male category from the event’s inception but this year, which promises to be the best yet, could perhaps see an upset.

“The Courts 10k has been growing and we’re hoping that this year is the biggest and we want it to be the best,” said Court’s Marketing Manager, Pernell Cummings during the launch of the event.

For the male and female senior categories, the winner will pocket an appetizing $100,000. The second place finisher will take home $75,000 while third, fourth and fifth place finishers will receive $50,000, $30,000 and $20,000 respectively.

Cummings noted that his company is looking forward to seeing Guyana’s best athletes performing.

“It’s about keeping Guyana fit as this month is our birthday month” he added. When the event was launched two weeks ago, president of the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG), Aubrey Hutson, said that he was pleased to see the company’s continued support of the calendar event.

Hutson also disclosed that all systems are in place to ensure the utmost safety of the runners.

Athletes were urged to register at the Guyana Olympic Association headquarters in Kingston no later than yesterday.

In addition, there will also be a 3km race for Courts’ staff. The top three finishers will be handsomely rewarded.

See you there.
