Strikers, Dynasty Sports Club to host Richardson anniversary dominoes tournament

Some 21 teams are down to battle for the lucrative first prize of $120,000 and a trophy today and tomorrow when Strikers Sports Club stages a specially arranged tournament in honour of the birth anniversary of one of its members Richie Richardson.

The competition will conclude tomorrow at the Dynasty Sports Club.

The runner up team is set to receive a trophy and $60,000 while the third placed team will receive a trophy and $40,000. Entrance fee is $10,000.

Among the sponsors of the competition are Big Boss Trucking Service, Dynasty Sports Club, Demerara Ice Company Ltd, South View Tavern, Faye Joseph, Patterson and Patterson Associates and Strikers SC.

According to Neville `Cody’ Cadogan of Strikers Sports Club teams are urged to be there on time as the matches are scheduled to get underway at the stipulated time.

Cadogan added that the prizes at stake are guaranteed.

Among the teams expected to participate are Rage, Frankies, C7 Mix Up Turning Point and others.

Meanwhile Trouble Shooters, with 81 games, ran out winners of a final among Mix Up and Spartan at the Turning Point Snackette and Bar.

Mix Up was second on 73 games with Spartan in the cellar on 66 games. Phillip Sargeant, 16 and Sharon Gerome 14 were the top markers for the winners while Gilbert Mendonca scored 16 games and Rawle Peters 15 for the runners up. Leroy Edwards and Dereck Samaroo were the top markers for Spartan with 15 games each.

For their efforts Trouble Shooters won a trophy and $100,000, Mix Up received $40,000 and Spartan $20,000.
